I paint my canvas with my passions.
ABOUT SABA FARRUKH
I am a passionate artist, entrepreneur, teacher and lifelong learner. I started my career as a college teacher and gradually built up my business by constantly exploring and diversifying my resources and abilities. Alhamdulillah, once started there was no looking back. I never underestimated myself and kept on working relentlessly in various art mediums, for example, silk painting, acrylic oil, watercolor and oil pastels.
Born into a family of scientists and mathematicians, I was lucky to pursue Visual Arts, supported by my extremely optimistic parents, in the then-pessimistic society of Pakistan.
Growing up there was one mantra,
Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.
And it proved critical in my formative years.
I came to America with my family and started teaching after completing my Certification.
The initial years were hard when I struggled to keep a balance between my studies, teaching career and painting but with the support of my family, friends and the Rahmah of Allah Swt, I was able to make a place for myself.
My art is passionate, just like me. Strong color combinations, bright and vibrant, bold and stunning, powerful strokes without any hesitation and fearless of any mistake.
My inspiration is the majestic nature, with its sound and fury, its relentless unapologetic crudeness but subtle at the same time.
The Ayah,” Allahu Nur us Samawat u wal arth” is the epitome of all creation. I love the Quran and want to show the beauty of the words of Allah along with the gorgeous hues and colors that He, Subhana Watallah has created.
My favorite medium of painting is Acrylics, it is very forgiving and diverse. It gives me room to create and blend multimedia like soft molding clay and glass beads while drying at exactly the same amount of time that I like. For the best color combinations and professional application of color and texture, I always use Golden acrylics, Golden molding clay, bead gels and glazing liquids. Another favorite is Liquitex basics.
I have a personal art studio that is my “Safe space”. I love to organize my art studio whenever I get a chance as I believe in organizing my stuff so I can work seamlessly.
Alhamdulillah, I have sold more than 200 Paintings in different states of America. My paintings are larger than life and vibrant enough to brighten any room. My Landscapes and seascapes are one of a kind that depicts my love of nature.
I am a member of the prestigious DFW Muslim Art Organization and IAS association in Houston.
I have conducted various art competitions and have participated in several art exhibitions throughout the United States.
I conduct Art classes in Summer, both online and in person to art students starting the age of 6 and 50. My favorite part is the joy and pride that they experience after creating every art piece.
This is the best part of Summer when I am just surrounded by my students and my art. I am very humbled by the extreme appreciation and love of my community and my friends.
I have two kids and live with my husband in Dallas, Tx.
